Assisted Living Committee

January 18th, 2008 by mattc

Some interested citizens in Wagner have formed an assisted living committee to look into the possibility of starting an Assisted Living Facility in Wagner. After a successful first assisted living committee meeting held at Heritage Court in November, I hope we can build on that momentum and have a successful follow-up discussion. The next meeting will be on January 21st, at 12 p.m. at Boom’s. At this meeting, we will try to pinpoint and summarize what the residents of the Wagner community really want and need from an assisted living facility. We will also discuss scheduling visits to different assisted living centers.

The assisted living facilities have helped so many families transition their loved ones from their homes into a safer place. In Tyndall, we also have a congregate living center (Northpoint Apts ) right next to our Tyndall Good Samaritan that is an excellent facility for people who want to downsize and still have the freedom of using their car and cooking themselves. Good luck. Judy

Armour’s assisted living facility has a LONG waiting list and our nursing home currently also has a waiting list. There is definitely a need for these types of services in our small towns with aging populations. –Susan in Armour

Can you tell me more about your progress? What have you found out? Where did you go for information?

We have no assisted living facility in our community. We would like to make this possible within our community. Any info you could offer would be great.
